mind vs heart
this song is incredible. i am playing it over and over ad nauseum. i just bucked up "NNEKA" this week and i am trying to remember where did i come across her name to start searching her on youtube. no one said her name to me, no one sent a link, she's just there, on my speakers, on my monitor. finally a recollection is dicovered in the recesses of my brain. my memory tracks back to listening to fela on the weekend online and her name came up as a powerful voice coming out of nigeria akin to fela. well that got my attention and a woman at that. as a woman, my senses are triggered when i hear of a female voice coming across the seas. letta mbulu still remains as one of my alltime favourite artistes. out of africa, lucky dube tops my list for a very long time (almost impossible to unseat) surrounded by so many others and now Nneka joins them.
i love music. reggae tops the list but i am not limited. music is the voice of the universe and flows from the soul. Nneka has an incredible gift and I feel blessed to add her to my world. This track in particular, Mind Vs Heart, is amazing on so many levels and hits the core of one's being with the perfect harmony of production and vocals.
Don't know if I'll catch the Distant Relatives Tour but Big up my girl, yuh a reach higher levels inna ur life and one day I hope to see u on the rock - JamRock, Jamaica mi seh <3
